The Pixie Haircut: Why I Let Go of My Very Long Hair

So the question lately is why did I get a pixie haircut? Why did I trade my long hair for a pixie cut? Whatever was I thinking?

Note: Below is an updated photo where I got my pixie cut seriously trimmed at a fabulous hair salon in Taipei, Taiwan in September 2013. I first cut my hair in February 2012 and can’t imagine going back to long hair now or perhaps ever.

I was impossibly demanding of my dear readers in our movie contest on August 12th when I asked you to choose the single film which had most impacted you in life and to tell me why in great detail, to boot! The response was overwhelming! You were so good to participate, so kind to indulge us and so creative in articulating the impact of the movie and your love for it. Thank you, thank you so much to my 30 fabulous participants and all of you who commented and supported us!

How I would have myself begun to answer this challenge is still beyond me! A single film from the many, many unforgettable, cherished and touching ones over the course of my life? Have you moved to the world of electronic books yet?

I had been trying in vain. I even bought a Kindle; I have yet to really use it. The thing is, traditional books are a pain to give up. I am addicted to turning the pages, feeling the text, holding the book, marking my place, writing in the margin, and seeing a visual progress from start to finish. As if that is not enough for a permanently happy relationship, I like the absence of technology in a book. These sweet elements add pleasure to my reading experience. A shift into the electronic world, even for an avid consumer of technology such as myself, almost feels like a betrayal to the true essence of books.

Much as I love Shakespeare, this timeless prose does not hold up when it comes to marketing, branding, business and website naming.
