Welcome back to another episode of the Smart, Opinionated and Fabulous podcast! Today, Aileen and I look at breaking the cycle of negative thinking – goodness, is it ever possible? – and together, we review some tools to empower us towards positive thinking – yes, it is possible – and achieving our goals and dreams. In today’s show, we focus on the art of living with the power of positivity, and getting our mindset to help us rather than hold us back.

Your Every Other Wednesday Show Notes:
1. How negative thoughts can physically weigh us down and our personal experience and stories where this has happened, in a yoga class for me and in a ballet class for Aileen.
2. Why it is perfectly fine to be part in the journey and not “there yet”, and how positive thinking and empowering your mind is indeed a lifetime practice.
3. Beyond the value of positive thinking, how to make the choice to be open and positive regardless of what you are experiencing in the moment.
4. How to go about positive thinking and affirmations; we look at the wrong way – oh yes! – and the better way.
5. Bridging the gap between affirmations, vision boards, positive thinking and the brutal reality.
6. How affirmations and vision boards can empower and enable you to turn things around when you slip into negative thinking.
Highlights mentioned in the Podcast:
1. Louise Hay Interview:
If you’ve been reading Prolific Living for any length of time, you know that I’ve never embedded videos that was not made by me. I am making an exception with this Louise Hay video, because it resonated with me on such a deep level that I want to see her beautiful, serene presence here on this page. Watch her and let her beautiful wisdom and amazing grace shower you with true inner peace.
2. Creating Affirmations that work
3. Our friend and amazing resource, Melody Fletcher.

Great podcast! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the yoga reference, of course (was it Pincha Mayrasana?) I have learned, through yoga, that you can’t actually stop the thoughts from existing. We experience a range of emotion and that is to be expected. It’s learning how NOT to invest in the thoughts (happy, sad, mad, frustrated, scared), and how to keep the thoughts from dictating your behaviour that is ultimately the best strategy on and off the mat!
Ruth, you are so sweet…. Of course you’d love the yoga story. I should do a TDI yoga podcast just for yoga but I might scare people off – plus can I really relate yoga to a daily interaction topic, I wonder? Help me out
!
Truth be told, it was a simple innocent little crow, can you believe it?
What you said about thoughts – and same is true about fears too … which are essentially just thoughts and emotions – so true. Forever, I was trying to eliminate them or fight them, whereas all I had to do is listen, acknowledge and release.
Thank you for being here, Ruth.
Hi Farnoosh,
It’s my weekly morning commute podcast…
Came across your blog from BlogCastFM a podcast I love love love..
Anyways.. I’ve had days where I planned the entire day the previous night and .. the follow morning , some “unexpected situation” comes my way. It tends to derails my mind with emotion.
I don’t think anyone can safeguard against these, but it’s all about how poised you and detail with whatever situation that’s thrown your way..
Easier said than done though..
Cheers…
Hi Shamelle, welcome to the blog, and thank you for listening. BlogcastFM is a great podcast, I’ve been on there 4 times. Those guys are too kind to me. And listened probably to all of them too.
You know, if you put the right intentions forth beforehand, and things happen that are out of your control, then you just have to believe that you will get back on track and not fight it like crazy ….. but most of the time, the “unexpected” is probably not happening – right? It’s not the norm…. so the technique should work, give it a try!
Hey Farnoosh,
I enjoyed the podcast. I’m also a big fan of positive affirmations. I try to say them at night before I go to bed. I’ve recently tried to say them in the mornings now when I remember.
I like what your co-host Aileen said about “thinking about the big picture” when you have a negative situation in your life. This is really helpful and it works.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers!
Hi Vic, thank you so so much! I am so glad to hear of yet another wonderful habit. Aileen is a master at these but I am starting to do them, and not just at night so much as every hour and every day when I find the day.
We plan to keep it up – if you liked it, please share it and thank you so much for your comment!!
