Oh dear Veehcirra, so glad to see you here deep into the archives. This is one of my favorite posts - I am so glad you found it! What you tell me now, my husband tells me too : That I have learned a lot from the course I have taken and so I have to be at peace with it .... We live, we learn, indeed. Beautifully said, dear! Come back anytime. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hi Farnoosh,

I am really glad I stumbled into your writings , I have to say I really needed to read this especially today, "I wish I took the course I really wanted to do after high school, instead of allowing myself to be talked out of what I really wanted" however I have learnt a lot from the course that I took, although getting over the regret process was a bit hard, however I do like what you say we live we learn...

Hello dear Louis, you are totally right. Young people are especially good at suppressing that uniqueness so they fit in and it's very sad because it's so hard to break away from the norm to become whom we are meant to be. It just happens so much later in life.
And I know how you feel about forgetting some memories or small bits and pieces of ourselves that we wish we could indefinitely behold. I hear meditation helps and you seem to have your own healing path. They will return, those memories, I know they will. They are just hovering under the surface waiting for the right time. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here.

I love the first one, about being ashamed of names and roots. One of the themes I'm exploring in my own life is having been embarrassed by what makes us unique. This could be a physical characteristic or a personality characteristic.

In my experience, and I think this is common with others as teenagers, we repress that unique part of ourselves to fit in - to not stick out. The things that made us stick out, which often brings just as much criticism as it does praise, we'd make dull so as not to become a target.

Yet, as I get older, I wish I could remember (remember emotionally) what those things were! Though I have faith they are still within me. My healing work helps to bring them out again.

Dear Kath, welcome to prolific living, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am so happy this post, which is now months old but I wrote it to be timeless, resonated with you. I checked your site and know what you mean about doing everything earlier but alas, we just do everything in our own time. I am with you on "no regrets" most days ;)!
Hope to see you again, thank you for sharing your story.

I could totally relate to this post in so many ways but then I guess our past and our lessons influence us to hopefully grow and evolve to be a bigger and better version of ourselves today. I wish I'd started my own business earlier and personal development blog but then again I wouldn't have had the experience or knowledge to impart so instead my tombstone will read 'no regrets' and I 'm gradually getting through my life goals as each decade goes by.

Farnoosh,

I came over here from the Life Lessons Series. Love your post and blog. You should be really proud of yourself, your writing and your roots.

I personally know two people from Iran. They are great. One is Kian Dwyer who wrote Living Your Chosen Eulogy: Live Today How You Want To Be Remembered. The other one is a Deputy Commissioner for the Minnesota state agency where I work. Yes, there are not many people from Iran here. And people outside of Iran don't know much about it, but you are all great ambassadors for your country.
