A Speech on Pursuing a Dream and Expressing Gratitude

Living a life without dreams is like eating without tasting, kissing without feeling, and being alive without living. Making a dream come true, then, how grand that must feel. Fulfilling. Sublime. Transcendent. A lasting joy for the soul and a temptation to believe anything is achievable! I can think of nothing more compelling for self-confidence, dignity and sense of purpose of a human being than realizing one’s dreams .

On November 2, when I made one of my long-time dreams come true, I had such a feeling.  In this speech, I share the story of that dream and the two amazing people in my life who made it possible.

Recognize in your life when it is time to stop Dreaming, Planning and Waiting – and when it’s time to Dream, Plan, and Do.

A Note about the Speech: The preparation of this speech was unusually easier and more enjoyable than many other speeches I have given, a note to remember that we should speak from the heart and on topics about which we are passionate. When we set out to write a speech or memorize a speech which is thus written, the muscle memory and mental retaining of information will surprise us in pleasant ways. Since we have the freedom to choose from an immense variety of topics for Toastmasters, it is best to always stay with those which interest us the most.

My endless Gratitude and Love to my photographer and friend Pascal and my best friend Cristina for making this dream come true! I truly find Pascal Monmoine Photography to be simply a gift to this world, and Cristina Lincoln’s Awaken Yoga is a joy to experience.

A great photograph can always only be as great as the subject being featured… and in the case of this particular photo shoot, 110% of the credit for any and all value and quality transpiring from the final photos that we created, goes without a shadow of a doubt to Farnoosh, both as the great and wonderful woman who she truly is, as well in terms of her most amazing Yoga expertise and skills.
I see my role as a photographer as one of doing my very best to showcase and capture a glimpse of the heart, soul and spirit of the subject being photographed … and this is exactly what happened here with and for Farnoosh.
So everything and anything that does transpire from these photos is of course entirely to her credit, both as a Woman as well as in terms of her amazing Yoga achievements…

Thank you so much Farnoosh, for having given me the opportunity and privilege of creating these photos for you… it was a truly memorable and amazing photo shoot!

With all my very best thoughts to you,

pascal

ps: and thank you so much to Cristina for bringing her infinite yoga expertise and her most wonderful spirit to our photo shoot which made such a huge difference in the final quality of the photos that we created

I am glad I got to see this speech in person, Farnoosh. Terrific job, as always. And it’s great to see an extension of the speech here on your blog, complete with comments from your photographer! Very cool. I need to find out how you were able to grab the video from our Toastmasters site and upload it to YouTube, as I might want to do the same thing with some of my speeches down the road. Keep up the good work!

Hi Farnoosh,

I can feel your energy and passion. Great to see that you really enjoyed your photo shoot and hope that what you have posted will inspire others to see things beyond just the physical practice of yoga. I know that is what I primarily look at, but I know I should take things from the mat and bring it in to my world and those surrounding me. I try my best with my religious beliefs (I am also a practicing Christian). Look forward to seeing more of your great blog. Many Blessings to you and have a great remainder of the week.

Regards,

Rick R.

Farnoosh… you are one brave girl.
Great preparation, great performance.
Animated, enthusiastic, clear voice, gestures, fantastic eye contact.
And all done without notes.

Best thing… your speech had a point for your audience, and you told them what it was.

An inspiration to anyone wanting to improve their Public Speaking Skills.

Keith, thank you – it took some guts but ultimately I told myself it had to be done. Yes I am so glad it had a point. I used to give speeches when I first started out in Toastmasters that sometimes were missing a major point! :)
