Leon, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts - I loved watching you speak and perform. Your mastery is awe-inspiring and you are made to race and compete. I think your comfort level is a sign of experience and maturity as a Toastmaster, but still the courage shines. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!!!

As one of the competitors on the stage that night, I can say that your points are very much appreciated. I admit though that I never gave the courage part as much thought because I was just having so much fun. Striving for excellence on stage before fellow Toastmasters is such a thrill that I feel more encouraged than courageous. It was my third time competing at a district contest, but I still felt like I was experiencing the moment for the first time--it's that breathtaking to me. I liken it to my track running. Every race is a treasure. I hope to compete again and, just as much, I hope to watch you up there on a district stage, too. You are truly gifted to be one of the more eloquent wordsmiths I know.

Hey Keith, we do but the competition that I describe here was at a district level, although we had to start at club level to do the first contest and then send our winners up to area then to division then to district, assuming they place :)! Keep me posted, happy to give you my opinion. Thanks!

Hi Farnoosh
Looks like you have a lot of fun at your club.
The trouble with speaking in front of other speakers is that you can feel them all evaluating you.
Great idea to have a "Humorous Speech Competition " - might give that a try at my club.
I've got a post coming out in the next few days on "The use of humour in speeches" I'll let you know when it's live - would value your opinion.
