Do aesthetics really matter when it comes to blogs? Do our readers really care about a website’s outward appearance when content is king in blogosphere, and quality of that content is supposedly what drives them to your site? The answer is: Why can’t they have both? There is no reason to compromise one for the other, if the goal is delivering excellent user experience!
Today, I finally purchased the fabulous Thesis Theme. From reading the outstanding reviews and show-cases, I could hardly contain my curiosity on what Thesis could do for my blog. I was using Thematic as the only WordPress Theme on Prolific Living and was pretty happy with it overall. It was also free. I noticed however that I either needed to learn PHP and other coding pretty well to customize the site or else had to acquire services of some such expert. Deep down, I was not in love with my theme, while still very happy. If I weren’t in love with the look and feel of my website, I hardly expected my readers to be.
Finally good enough wasn’t good enough anymore. With Thesis, even though I am far from customizing and designing the site to my best liking, I am indeed mad about the authenticity of this theme. I purchased it through Copyblogger‘s affiliate program, because I think Brian Clark rocks! Since then, I have come to learn and love Thesis so much that I decided to endorse the affiliate program as the only such program on Prolific Living, at the time of this writing.
What do I love about Thesis Theme for WordPress so much?
- The vast options to customize without getting into the code. Spoken not from a novice techie perspective but from an Electrical Engineer turned Network Designer with the certifications to prove it! I do not shy away from coding for its difficulty but rather I choose to focus on content and other site optimization challenges. Knowing what matters to you in the limited time that you have to spend on your website is an important step to your success. Define it and Follow it!
- The gorgeous features, the brilliant typography available, the overall design and inviting professional look that is inherent to the Theme, while very much open to customization.
- The Support – the fantastic tech support on every problem from the simple to most complex, from basic functionality to bugs, troubleshooting, and even custom feature request, I have been amazed and remain very grateful for this support. In short, Godhammer and Girlie do a phenomenal job.
Thesis is proof that a WordPress theme does not need to be just good enough. Or just meet some requirements while you compromise on others. No! It means that your theme can meet and exceed your expectations on all levels, and refuse to disappoint. Your Theme embodies your blog and your site; it is the first impression, the overall sense and the memory you leave with your readers, whether they are on the site for 3 minutes or an hour.
Yes, content is king but the Theme which embodies that content is the palace where your king resides. It is worthy of the same attention, care and effort to create the excellent user experience we all aim to produce.
How much do you love your theme?
